Ezinne Oguguo

Ezinne Oguguo is an undergraduate Biological Sciences major, Computer Science minor, Meyerhoff Scholar (M31), HHMI Research Scholar and NIGMS/NIH URISE Scholar at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (class of 2023). As an undergraduate research in Dr. Lavik's Chemical, Biochemical, and Environmental engineering lab at UMBC, Ezinne's team focuses on synthesizing intravenously administered hemostatic nanoparticles that improve human survival time and prevent neurodegeneration. Her interest include interfacing computational neuroscience, machine learning, and biological engineering to gain a more in depth understanding of the neural networks of the brain and how findings could lead to the discovery of therapeutic strategies and cures for neurological and psychological disorders. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and interacting with others. She is working with Dr. Ed Boyden at MIT this summer as a part of the MSRPBio Program, to gain more research experience in neuro-engineering.
