Yi Cui

Yi is a research scientist in the Synthetic Neurobiology group at MIT. He received his medical degree at Central South University XiangYa School of Medicine, China and his Ph.D. in Biological Engineering at Purdue University. He completed his postdoc training in single-cell systems biology at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. During his Ph.D. and postdoc research, he developed advanced nanotechnology and imaging tools to address challenging biomedical questions at the single-molecule level. In the Synthetic Neurobiology group, Yi is optimizing and expanding the application of Expansion Microscopy, as well as discovering novel tools for brain mapping and control.
