Shahar Alon

Shahar received a BSc degree in Physics from Bar-Ilan University, and an MSc degree in Neurobiology and a PhD degree in Neuroscience, both from Tel Aviv University. In his PhD he studied the functional roles of RNA editing in the brain. During his doctoral training he was supported by a Clore fellowship and his postdoctoral training was supported by a Rothschild fellowship. During his time as a postdoctoral scholar at MIT, Shahar combined tools from computational biology, physics, and molecular biology to design new ways to map and analyze brain function. He received a Life Sciences Research Foundation fellowship to support his work in the Boyden lab. After completing his postdoc, he went on to a tenure track faculty job at Bar Ilan University.
