Justin Kinney

Justin Kinney was a postdoc in the Synthetic Neurobiology group, where he worked on strategies for scalable neural signal acquisition and analysis. He then moved on to become an engineer at the startup company LeafLabs, working to commercialize scalable neural acquisition systems. Justin Kinney was formerly a postdoctoral fellow in the Computational Neurobiology Laboratory led by Terry Sejnowski at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California where he developed three-dimensional reconstructions of brain tissue from serial section electron microscopy images. He received his Ph.D in Bioengineering from the University of California San Diego under the advisement of Dr. Sejnowski. Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer at Georgia Tech, Justin designed robots for manufacturing for Danaher Precision Systems in Salem, NH before beginning his doctoral research.
